Student Credit Cards

The requirements of different persons are different. The suppliers of credit cards have understood this and have come with different types of credit cards to suit the requirements of different people. For example there are business credit cards for the people of business and there are student credit cards for the requirements of students.

However the purpose of credit cards is more or less the same. The basic purpose of the credit cards remains the same. But the students credit cards differ from the normal credit card in two ways. These two differences are regarding the credit limit and the APR.

The credit limit on the student credit cards is normally very low. The range of credit in students credit card ranges from $500 – $1000 on  monthly basis. The reason of the credit range of these credit cards being low is due to the fact that the users of such credit cards are just students who do not have any credit rating and nor do that they have Any knowledge about the use of the credit card.  The credit card companies are taking risk by issuing credit cards to students and by keeping the credit card limit low the credit card companies reduce that risk. This thing is also good for the students because in this way they get control over their spending. And the limit of credit that is offered in this type of credit  cards is normally sufficient to meet the requirements of the student life.

The APR of student credit cards is normally higher then the normal credit card. The reason behind it just the same that the credit card companies want to minimize their loss that they take by issuing credit card to someone with no credit rating. It is also possible that the suppliers of the student credit cards may keep strong terms and conditions that may involve signatures of parents or guardians as guarantor.
