What to do when your Credit Card is lost

Credit cards have now become a part of our life. All transactions of our day to day life whether it is related to the shopping of our day to day requirements or whether it is related to our booking of holidays or it is related to reservation of hotel or whether it is related to our online business or online shopping etc, all transactions can be done with the help of credit cards. But when all the important transactions of our life are being done with the help of these credit cards then we are left helpless in the situation when we loose our credit card.

Just suppose of the situation when you find that you have lost your wallet and you not only have lost the cash and other items that were in your wallet, but you have also lost your credit card. Now it will be the worst part of loosing your wallet that whoever has stolen your wallet can now use your wallet. Now you will be responsible of the bills that the person who has stolen your credit card is incurring.

You can loose your sleep on the thoughts that someone else is using your credit card and is ruining your credit history. But there are some steps that you can take when you loose your credit card.

The first thing that you should do in this regard is to inform the credit card company from which you had taken that credit card that your credit card has been lost. By doing this your credit card company will immediately freeze all the activities in that lost credit card. The company will put alert on that credit card and in this way will warn all the vendors to immediately call the company in case someone try to use that credit card.

The credit card companies require that you should report about loosing your credit card within 24 hours of loosing it. Now credit cards are also available with fraud protection.
